The Sparrows by K A Abbas

Oppression and Exploitation of Women in The Sparrows

K. A. Abbas addresses many feminism-related themes and worries in his short stories by presenting realistic representations of genuine female characters. He speaks out against the exploitation of all people, regardless of gender. Through his writings, he promotes the rights of underprivileged, helpless women and children. They support equal rights for everyone, regardless of sex, caste, or gender. Wherever he sees evidence of exploitation, he draws attention to it.

In The Sparrows Rahim Khan constantly abuses his wife, who is never given a name in the narrative since he believes that names are only for men. Because she doesn't have a name in the novel, her low status in society and the attitude that society had toward women are made clear. His wife had served as the embodiment of all of his grievances against his family, society, and existence for thirty years. He hits his wife in the same manner that he beats his oxen, making it abundantly evident that women in the male-dominated culture have no higher standing than an animal.
